The love supreme

The love supreme

I initially bought this gorgeous Wilna mini class because I was smitten with the little bears and decided to use the monthly calender cards included in the class downloads for my 2017 Project Life album.
This mini class is part of a year long workshop Wilna is running... but the individual classes are offered as stand alones which is how I purchased it.

It was quite some time later that I recalled the video / layout component of the last week when my creative spirit was low....I set myself aside some time to have a play and even more importantly on that day.....I just tuned into and listened to the beautiful calming and wise voice that Wilna brings to all that she does.

I have included the link to the mini class below...its so adorable... and it even included a gorgeous desktop size calender that greets me every time I turn on my laptop.

L I S T - L O V E #3 - Still ticking off lists

I used to think I would one day catch up....everything would be organised...simplified...and in order.
Every day I would follow a routine... a healthy one...Id be on top of everything in the kitchen...our meals would be splendid...and Id skip off to an exercise session...never missing a day.

My wardrobe would be sorted and scaled back to only the clothes that 'sparked joy'...Id have 40 items that I loved to wear all neatly laundered and ironed ready for any occasion.

Id be one of those people who dealt with mail as it came in the door.... neatly filing..responding...actioning...always making sure my schedule was planned...and all contingencies covered.

My memory keeping would be up to date.... Id have a system where I captured every memory... and I would know what style I loved...and Id just stick to it. I  would dream that my creative time would be like meditation ...not only was I documenting our life but I was also stretching my creative muscle just because it felt good.

Our financials would be all in order.... Id painstakingly research the best deals on and health insurance... and although I had no illusions of being a great 'budgeter'...I though maybe we could have a game plan and try to stick to it.

My big dreams didn't stop there....I thought Id turn my garden into a productive permaculture oasis and grow as much and healthy food as I could...

We would plan and travel as much as we could squeeze into our lifetime...

and I would make as much time for family as I could.

But life isn't really like that....

Simplifying is a work in progress... and some weeks I am just content to be reducing the amount of stuff I bring into the home.... no more groceries we don't absolutely need.... no more browsing stores for the sake of it.

Meal planning doesn't always go to plan ... Im just content with the fact they are healthy.

Exercise doesn't always happen....

My wardrobe needs a cull...and a refresh....and very little is ironed....

My garden is overgrown and an eyesore.... and the minute the pumpkins are picked Ill aim to get it back in order...

....and the list goes on....

So I guess it makes me very grateful for all the goals I have ticked over the last few weeks....slowly chipping away...crossing off as I go...

Grrrr....Mardi.. stop the over-thinking!
S T I C K ... I T ... D O W N .... M O V E .. O N!!!
I was really happy with the direction I was heading last month.... but this month I struggled again. There are parts I love...and parts I may even do again.... but its mid-way through March and I want February done and dusted. So here are our February memories...

J O T Magazine mood board March 2017

Its a new JOT month....
with a brand new JOT issue....
AND a brand new JOT MOOD BOARD.... this month Jot girl Felicity pulled together a GORGEOUS board ...even including a vintage fabric stash... sigh

Its so fabulous seeing how everyone interprets the mood board....I was immediately drawn to the fabric... and yet this board just gives so much to play with.

Issue #17 hit the Interwaves... if that's what you call them... with a flurry of excitement....and for good reason...its AMAZING!
I still cant believe its FREE to read and download....crazy huh!

I contributed very little this issue... it was a huge month for us with the wedding...and my creative energies were focused in other avenues... thankfully Kim is always understanding and there are plenty of Jot girls and awesome my weeny contributions would not be missed.

Have a read and enjoy... its a spectacular edition.

Memos, Mail, Me : The very first painting....

I'm a day late for Sians Memos, Mail, Me: prompt....which is traditionally a Monday gig. I tried...I really did....I thought about it all day yesterday... and I just couldn't come up with anything interesting at all.
It seemed we had a very mundane week.... and there certainly wasn't anything of interest in the post... but then yesterday afternoon at 3pm.....

There was a knock at the door....and this little man was was hiding around the corner.... to surprise me with his very first Kindy painting....
This was a pretty big deal.... lets say he has been far too busy in the sandpit or the playground to paint up until this point...unlike his sisters who churned out paintings and box creations faster than we could recycle.

I know its Tuesday...but its definitely worth the Memo...

Well this is a turn out for the books... I promised myself I would never blog any more of my project life spreads because I find them FAR TOO HARD to photograph...and blogging them isn't worth the angst of getting a good shot.

Fast forward to today....I decided to give it another shot.

However....I am adding a disclaimer right here on the first post..... if you want beautiful photographs.. move on will not see them here.

For those who follow on Instagram... mardi_jane you may have read that I procrastinated far too much before beginning this year....

I already knew I wanted to use the same 6x8 format as I did last year.. because it was easy to achieve...and another important reason was ..its easy for the little kids to manage when they flip through....which they do very regularly.

I was stuck....because I wanted it to be perfect this year... I wanted it to have a flow...a 'look' a consistency... but instead of actually beginning I just kept staring at the blank album...frozen.

What was the turning point? ... who knows....I just decided I was being ridiculous... 'perfect' isn't my thing....I am more of a 'wing it as you go' kind of I just got to it.

I am happy now ...for the most part....although I wont lie...I still hate my photographs.

This year I am including more 'flaps'  so I can tuck away some extra stories...this spread has two. One of a before and after of Brionys Hens Day...where I tucked a few 'pole dancing' photos...from the most hilarious day ever....and another of her brand new classroom (her first year of teaching).

I am using a monthly calendar card from this gorgeous Wilna bears collection - I adored it... although this was one of my decision torments.... should I go clean and graphic?...or whimsical and arty?.... the bears won.... because the kids loved them....and really...thats what its all about.

My album and pages are Kaisercraft Captured Moments - I used them last year too....which keeps my albums consistent. I really liked the quality....although I do feel the pockets are a little smidge larger than the photos.... which on the upside allow bulky inserts.

I use the Becky Higgins Project Life App to print a lot of my journal cards...I am trying to get into the habit of typing them as I go throughout the month.... attempting to record more of the little stories rather than the big overviews. Once I create a card....usually on my phone while I'm on the go...I save it to Dropbox.... then its easy to print at home when it suits.

I also love the 'Collect App' on my phone.... it allows me to pop in a photo each day of the month...and add in a mini story. I often sit and load these up from my camera roll all in one go....because Im honest here....I suck at staying on top of a photo-a-day type commitments.
These look fabulous printed out and included throughout the months spreads...well I think so anyway.

So there you have it.... the beginnings of my Project Life 2017
